Brushwood Community Forest
Locally known as the Brushwood Forest, one of the most significant undeveloped blocks of forestland in the Upper Connecticut River Valley was under threat of development and residential subdivision. Working with the local community, The Trust for Public Land helped protect over 1,000 acres for the Brushwood Community Forest, connecting the existing Fairlee and Bradford Municipal Forests. Its critical wildlife habitat and diverse forest types offer opportunities for sustainable timber harvesting to support the area’s traditional land-based economy, serve as a community resource for recreation, and provide significant wildlife habitat and watershed protection.
