Hancock Ranch
The Hancock Ranch was one of the last large private parcels in Sedona’s Red Rock area, a region known for its stunning red sandstone cliffs and formations. The ranch is adjacent to the Honanki Heritage Site, one of the largest cliff dwellings in Coconino National Forest and the site of ancient petroglyph cave art.
The property’s picturesque setting—and proximity to the city—made it a prime target for housing developers. In 2004, The Trust for Public Land worked with the U.S. Forest Service to acquire the ranch as an addition to the Coconino National Forest. Hancock is the fourth ranch in the area to be protected through our partnership with the Forest Service and local nonprofit Keep Sedona Beautiful.
