La Salle Lake State Recreation Area

La Salle Lake State Recreation Area (SRA) encapsulates the natural elements often associated with Minnesota, known as “the Land of 10,000 Lakes.” A stunning, 221-acre lake beckons those drawn to the natural charms of lake life. Old-growth forests featuring pine, fir, and cedar trees encourage visitors to escape their busy lives and soak in nature. Lifelong learners relish the scientific and natural areas.

La Salle Lake holds the title of Minnesota’s second-deepest lake—213 feet. The remarkable land surrounding the lake supports the area’s unique natural system. Several types of forest and stream-fed wetlands provide a habitat for many fish and wildlife species.

In October 2011, Trust for Public Land helped conserve 1,000 acres surrounding the lake, creating connections between existing public lands and expanding opportunities for hunting, fishing, and other outdoor recreation.

La Salle Lake SRA also offers adventure seekers access to the Mississippi River and opportunities to camp, boat, hike, and snowshoe.
