Mestizo-Curtis Park
Built in 1868, Mestizo-Curtis Park is the oldest in Denver. Its nine acres of tree-lined paths held great potential, but the park lacked the amenities needed to serve as a quality gathering and play space for this dense and diverse neighborhood.
The Trust for Public Land worked with community groups and Denver Parks and Recreation to bring new life to this under-used park. With the installation of a new custom-designed playground in June 2015, and a Fitness Zone® exercise area, the park began its journey to becoming a neighborhood asset once again.
Today, Denver Parks and Recreation has plans underway to continue the renovation of the park. Plans include improving trails and a community garden with innovative water-capture systems. Thanks to your help, we’ve begun to renew this historic neighborhood treasure -and the community’s pride in its park.
