Olney
Located just 10 miles from Whitefish, MT, this incredible 1,072 acre property, surrounded by Flathead National Forest and Montana State forests, is now protected in perpetuity. Conserving this land protects important wildlife habitat and water quality along the Stillwater River, as well as open space and forest resources for sustainable management. Additionally, this protects outdoor recreation opportunities adjacent to hundreds of thousands of acres of public land that The Trust for Public Land has conserved in the region, including Montana Legacy Project, Haskill Basin, Trumbull Creek, and the Kootenai Forestlands Conservation Project. Conservation Easements like this one protect threatened wildlife including grizzly bear, Canada lynx and westslope cutthroat trout and secure access for the use and enjoyment of the public while also allowing for sustainable forestry, which is vital to the region’s economy.
