Stratton Pond
This 15 acre property in Stratton, Vermont was one of only two remaining private inholdings on Stratton Pond, a unique high-elevation pond, and the largest pond on the Appalachian Trail in Vermont. The protected land includes a stretch of the pond, striking views of Stratton Mountain, and a section of Vermont’s long-distance cross-country ski trail, the Catamount Trail, that was threatened by closure to public use. By adding this property to the Green Mountain National Forest in 2003, The Trust for Public Land ensured that Stratton Pond will remain forever open for visitors to hike, camp, ski, snowshoe, fish, and swim.
