SIGN NOW: Safeguard Chuckwalla

You can help to safeguard Chuckwalla.

This precious landscape nestled in Southern California is under threat, and we need your help to ensure its preservation.

Named after the Chuckwalla lizard, this breathtaking, nearly 700,000-acre landscape is more than just a picturesque backdrop—it’s a sanctuary for Indigenous heritage and a lifeline for endangered species such as the desert tortoise.

That’s why we’re advocating for President Biden to safeguard the land permanently using the Antiquities Act. But to make this goal a reality, we need your help.

Urge President Biden to preserve Chuckwalla as a national monument now and for future generations.

Letter to President Biden

RE: Protect Chuckwalla as a national monument

To President Biden,

As a dedicated advocate for the great outdoors, I implore you to designate Chuckwalla in Southern California as a national monument. The Antiquities Act has long been a bipartisan tool for preserving America’s invaluable cultural and recreational landscapes, with past presidents using it to protect iconic places such as Grand Canyon and Arches National Parks. We owe the current splendor of these treasured sites to the visionary actions of your predecessors.

Chuckwalla’s nearly 700,000 acres encompass significant cultural and historic sites and critical habitats for threatened and endangered species, such as the desert tortoise. By designating this precious landscape as a national monument, you can ensure the protection and preservation of this unique and vital ecosystem.

As you advance the goals of the America the Beautiful initiative, I urge you to consider making Chuckwalla a national monument. Your leadership is crucial to safeguarding this cherished landscape.

Thank you for considering this important action to protect a truly special part of our natural heritage.

Sincerely,
