Sunktokeca Creek WMA
Only a short drive down Interstate 35 from the Twin Cities, the new Sunktokeca Creek Wildlife Management Area (WMA) offers millions of Minnesotans opportunities for close-to-home recreation, including high-quality hunting for waterfowl, deer, pheasant and turkeys. The WMA’s approximately 200 acres include marsh habitat along with former cropland that will be restored to prairie. The protection of this land and its transfer to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is part of our ongoing effort to protect natural lands in the rapidly developing Cannon River Watershed.
Funding for this project was provided from the Outdoor Heritage Fund as recommended by the Lessard-Sams Outdoor Heritage Council.
