Why I believe in protecting land and creating parks: The U.S. is a beautiful country with a steadily growing population that is expected to reach 400 million by mid-century. Protecting land and creating access to parks, trails and open space is vitally important work, both to preserve precious natural areas and to improve public health and quality of life for Americans. If we don’t do this now, we won’t be able to do it tomorrow.
Why I support The Trust for Public Land: The land for people mission sets TPL apart from other worthy conservation causes. When we connect people with nature, we improve public health, commitment to conservation and civic engagement. Parks and green space in cities contribute to climate resilience and quality of life. This work feels essential, both to the stewardship of the land and to our commitment to one another.
