Francesca Vietor

Francesca Vietor has been a passionate advocate for the environment for more than three decades, beginning with her early work at the Rainforest Action Network and continuing through her role in founding San Francisco’s first Environment Department. Currently, she serves as Senior Advisor on the Environment at the San Francisco Foundation (SFF). In addition to advising high-net worth individuals on environmental and equity-focused grantmaking, Francesca spent eight years at SFF managing the Youth Access to Nature Fund and Oakland Goes Outdoors Initiative to get Bay Area youth off their screens and into nature.

Francesca served three terms on the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) in the environmental justice seat, overseeing the City and County of San Francisco’s water, wastewater, and municipal power services, and twice presided as SFPUC President during her twelve-year tenure. Appointed by Governor Newsom for a four-year term on the California State Parks Commission, she is now helping to advance the administration’s Outdoor Access for All Initiative. Francesca is committed to TPL’s mission to improve park access and has publicly pledged to visit all 280 of California’s State Parks—she’s already more than halfway there.
