Suzanne Geary
Suzanne is executive director of The Healy Foundation focused on youth, environment and community in Oregon and Hawaii. During her tenure she has championed trust-based funding and practices — such as 100% unrestricted giving — that address the power imbalance between funders and nonprofits. Her commitment to shifting the sector to more regenerative practices led to her participation in the forming of Hawaii’s first philanthropy serving organization (PSO), Funder Hui, designed with equity, inclusivity and innovation from the beginning. She continues to serve on the Advisory Board.
Prior to joining the Healy Foundation, Suzanne was COO of Sigma Investment Management Firm and Founding Executive Director of College Possible Portland—an organization striving to reduce the education attainment gap. Outside of work Suzanne is an active community member. In addition to Funder Hui, she serves on the board of Portland Art Museum where she also co-chairs the Government Affairs committee. Prior board roles include Oregon Symphony, College Possible Portland, Youth, Rights & Justice, Self Enhancement, Inc., and Portland Children’s Museum. She holds an MHA in Health Systems Management from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and a BA in Psychology from Tulane University, as well.
