Over the past 12 months, we've achieved some noteworthy goals and set plenty of exciting projects in motion. While we can’t shine a light on each and every win, here are several highlights from 2024.

As this challenging election season comes to a close, it's important today to extend a message of gratitude and a vision for the road ahead. Despite a nation divided on so many issues, voters across the country demonstrated a powerful and unified commitment to parks, public lands, and outdoor access for all.

When you get your ballot every election season, do you ever wonder how those various park and conservation questions get there? In most cases, the process is a long and winding road, full of bumps and surprises. But when ballot issues are thoughtfully designed and well-supported by data and subject-matter expertise, they stand a good chance of passing. How good? If you consider those that Trust for Public Land creates and supports, it’s about 83 percent.

Our favorite thing about winter? Snow! From snowball fights in frosty fields to sledding, skiing, and snowshoeing, we love to play in fresh powder. Many of the parks and natural spaces we’ve protected—or are working to conserve—are best explored when blanketed in white. So grab your coat and mittens, and enjoy one of our favorite winter wonderlands this season. And don’t forget the hot chocolate!

From its start as a wartime holding ground to what was seen as a local eyesore to its current life as an unique, adapted ecosystem and slightly spooky paddling destination, Mallows Bay, Maryland, is an undeniably intriguing place.
