Green Infrastructure
To help cities better manage stormwater, we incorporate green infrastructure solutions into many of our parks and playgrounds. These “greening” practices can be anything that helps absorb, delay, and treat stormwater, like permeable pavement, green roofs, trees, bioswales, and rainwater catchment systems.
While using green infrastructure to manage runoff mitigates flooding and pollution downstream, it also improves air quality, cools the city, and provides green spaces that make our cities more livable, beautiful, and climate-resilient. Urban greenery has also been proven to improve mental health and well-being.
