Foundation Interns Announced
The Trust for Public Land is pleased to announce the 2012 Jamie Hoyte Posse Foundation Summer internship.
The internships are awarded in honor of Jamie Hoyte, a supporter, volunteer, and member of our National Board of Directors for more than 18 years. Now transitioning to emeritus status, Jamie also sits on the board of directors of the Posse Foundation, a highly regarded national organization that provides high school and college students-called Posse Scholars-with the tools and skills they need to secure successful internships and jobs. The foundation aims to help students “transition from being leaders on campus to becoming leaders in the workforce.”
This year’s interns and Posse Scholars, Paoli Román-Borrero and Saul Vasquez, were selected from applicants from across the country.
A recent graduate of Bryn Mawr College, Paoli majored in anthropology with a minor in growth and structure of cities. This summer she will be conducting a study on the community impacts of the Elmhurst Street Playground, a Trust for Public Land project completed in Dorchester, Massachusetts, in 2009.
Saul Vasquez is currently attending Pomona College in Claremont California. Saul will support The Trust for Public Land’s work on Chicago’s Bloomingdale Park and Trail by participating in community meetings, providing social media support, and working with project staff.
