PS 181 looks like a million bucks!
It never gets old. The once-barren space at PS 181 in East Flatbush,
Brooklyn is not TPL’s first public school playground project—it’s
actually number 50—but on opening day, the celebration felt just like
the first.
Designed for kids by kids, the playground offers a safe and colorful play haven for kids and their families in the East Flatbush neighborhood. The park offers climbing, swinging and sliding equipment, and features a “Shakespeare Garden” planted by the students, and an amphitheatre with stage dedicated to Luther Vandross.
Now available to the school’s 1,200 students and families from the surrounding community, P.S. 181 is the 50th public school playground developed in New York City by The Trust for Public Land (TPL) in partnership with Mayor Bloomberg’s PlaNYC.
