Camp Myeerah
Camp Myeerah, near Bellefontaine, Ohio, served as a popular Girl Scout camp for more than 50 years. When the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio decided to sell the camp, they wanted to ensure that the new owner would still allow the land to be used for camping, nature education, and outdoor recreation.
In March 2014, The Trust for Public Land helped arrange the sale of Camp Myeerah to the City of Bellefontaine. The city's Joint Recreation District will manage the 449-acre camp as a public park where people can enjoy camping, hiking, cross-country skiing, birding, and fishing. The Tri-Moraine Audubon Society will hold a conservation easement over the entire property and will help manage the land as important birding habitat.
