Clark Avenue Park

Clark-Fulton and Stockyards are two of Cleveland’s most densely populated neighborhoods, and their rich cultural diversity has characterized the west side of Cleveland for generations. But what’s missing in these neighborhoods is proper green space for people to get outside, play, and relax together.

Trust for Public Land is working with residents and community partners to create a shared vision for a new park—dubbed Clark Avenue Park—near this underresourced Cleveland community where few residents have access to quality open space.

Located between Clark Elementary School and the Clark Recreation Center, the new park will offer much-needed space for the community to enjoy the outdoors. With help from local residents, we’re designing the park with playgrounds, sports facilities, seating, and spaces for future farmers’ markets and social gatherings. We’re also mapping out tree plantings to liven the space while providing much-needed shade on hot days.

According to TPL’s report “Advancing Park Equity in Cleveland,” the new park is also expected to generate at least $2.08 million in economic benefits over the next 10 years.

There’s so much to love about these two storied neighborhoods, and together with the City of Cleveland and funds from the National Park Service and the Interior Department’s Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership Program, we’re moving them both forward with the green space that Clevelanders truly deserve.
