Gray Fox WMA
Located in the upper reaches of the Cannon River Watershed just west of Shields Lake, Gray Fox Wildlife Management Area (WMA) is characterized by a scenic, rolling topography of wetlands and grasslands. The Trust for Public Land acquired and conveyed these 79 acres to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resource to create the WMA in 2019. The land will be primarily managed for migratory waterfowl, deer, and turkey habitat, and will provide quality hunting and other outdoor recreation opportunities. Funding for this project was provided by the Outdoor Heritage Fund as recommended by the Lessard-Sams Outdoor Heritage Council.
