Mill Brook Open Space
Less than a half mile from Windsor, Connecticut’s vibrant town center sits 95 acres of rolling meadows, shrub wetlands, and over 3,700 feet of the Mill Brook. Miles of trails wind through the park, offering a valuable open space amenity in one of the mostly densely settled parts of Windsor. In addition to ample parking and convenient access, Mill Brook Open Space puts more than 1,200 residents within a 10-minute-walk to the property and its array of passive recreational opportunities.
Prior to the Financial Crisis of 2007-2008, the property was once approved for a large-scale residential development and then abandoned due to poor real estate market conditions. But when the property went back on the market in 2014, The Trust for Public Land stepped in to protect it. Mill Brook Open Space now forms a robust green edge to the town’s center, and is a key building block in a greenway plan set forth in the Town’s Plan of Conservation and Development.
