Summer Hill
The Trust for Public Land worked with the Madison Land Conservation Trust (MLCT) to purchase and permanately protect 77 acres of open space in North Madison, the former Summer Hill Road homestead of the Bauermeister family, which maintained the land as a natural area for wildlife in general and birdlife in particular.
The Summer Hill property is part of the Hammonasset Reservoir watershed and is situated near other lands protected by the MLCT. Its location and ecological significance make this land a conservation priority: it serves as a southern buffer to thousands of acres of natural lands that protect water quality and wildlife habitat while offering recreation opportunities.
