Trees of Corrales
The Koontz family has worked their tree farm near the Village of Corrales for more than 50 years. For them, protecting the rural character of the picturesque Rio Grande valley is important to their livelihood and sense of place. The local community agreed. With funds from a voter-approved bond measure and the federal Farm and Ranchland Protection Program, TPL placed a conservation easement on 18 acres of the tree farm, permanently protecting it from development and preserving the views of the nearby cottonwood bosque and the dramatic rise of the Sandia Mountains in the distance.
