Americans Voted Yes for Water, Wildlife, and Way of Life in 2024

At TPL, we help communities design and win ballot measures that create new public funding for parks and conservation. This year, we supported 23 ballot measures in 11 states. On November 5, 2024, voters across the nation approved 22 of those, with one measure still pending final results. Together, these measures have generated over $16 billion in voter-approved public funding for parks, climate resilience projects, and land conservation.

Communities are at the core of TPL’s mission. In Maine, Trust for Public Land’s Indigenous partners are playing a critical role in advancing important—and historic—land conservation.

For nearly three decades, our Conservation Finance team has had its finger on the pulse of American voters’ needs and feelings about public lands. Need proof? We’ve helped draft and pass 679 ballot measures in 566 jurisdictions to bring parks, trails, open spaces, community schoolyards, and their countless benefits to people across the country.
