The Trust for Public Land’s Climate-Smart Cities™ program works with cities to mitigate the urban heat island effect and offset carbon emissions through strategic green infrastructure planning.
This report, developed in partnership with the Urban Climate Lab at the Georgia Institute of Technology, offers a review of the literature outlining the demonstrated effectiveness of green infrastructure in providing heat mitigation and emissions reductions in cities and identifies key design strategies for maximizing these services.
