Chambers County Greenprint

Published: July 1st, 2009

Chambers County is experiencing new opportunities as development and economic growth march steadily east from Harris County. These changes bring jobs, income, housing, and improved infrastructure. Yet without planning for growth, these same opportunities could result in a collision with the quality of life for county residents, jeopardizing its rural character and natural assets.

But this collision is no inevitable. Communities that plan for growth have an advantage: they are better prepared to make informed decisions about their future. The Trust for Public Land facilitated a greenprinting project in Chambers County from 2007 to 2009. Greenprinting is a way to manage growth, one that ensures quality of life, recreation, clean air and water, and economic health. This report provides the findings of this greenprinting research.
