Penobscot Valley Community Greenprint Report

Published: July 1st, 2009

The Penobscot Valley Community Greenprint is a project led by The Trust for Public Land, Bangor Land Trust, Eastern Maine Development Corporation, and Penobscot Valley Council of Governments. The report identifies the characteristics of this rich gateway to the Great Northern Forest that make it special, sustain its quality of life, and attract people and businesses.

For this project, community leaders used mapping to prioritize strategies for protecting these parts of the landscape. Greenprint leaders started by conducting in-depth analyses of the region's demographics, economic indicators, and infrastructure in concert with its natural resources, parks and trails. They reviewed local- and state-level planning policies, conducted phone surveys, one-on-one interviews, public listening sessions, and a stakeholder outreach process to identify key conservation goals for the Penobscot Valley. This report summarizes their findings.
