Maine’s Northern Forests
Northern Maine is seeing forests subdivided, sold, and resold at an astonishing pace: 50 percent of land in the northern forest has changed ownership in the last five years alone. The Trust for Public Land has a unique range of abilities and diverse resources that are well matched to the particular challenges posed by Maine's conservation opportunities. We are currently working on several projects to protect Maine's northern forests including work at Crocker Mountain/Orbeton Stream, which would protect jobs in the local forest economy and ensure continued access to many key recreation areas.
