Laquisa Burke
Laquisa “Q” Burke joined Massachusetts Housing Partnership in July 2017 as a Community Engagement Officer and is responsible for supporting both the developmental and operational aspects for ONE Mortgage, the state’s most affordable mortgage program. These responsibilities include maintaining and expanding upon their network of agencies committed to helping homebuyers, working with partner lenders on loan origination and funding, facilitating motivated Section 8-eligible homebuyers to use their vouchers towards a home purchase, and working with first-time owners when they refinance their ONE Mortgage loans.
Laquisa earned an associate degree in business management from Bunker Hill Community College and a bachelor of arts in psychology from the University of Massachusetts Boston (UMB). She also has a graduate certificate in gender, leadership and public policy from UMB. Prior to MHP, her experience in housing included a public policy housing internship at the City of Boston and a City Awake Delegate Fellowship, where she supported programming related to housing issues.
She is a longtime member and current president of the West of Washington Coalition (WOW), a community group which advocates for sustainable change in the neighborhood west of Washington Street in Dorchester. Since 2020, thanks to Laquisa’s leadership, the coalition has been awarded $1.2 million in Community Preservation Act grants from the City of Boston to create a neighborhood park at the corner of Norwell and Park streets. Laquisa also serves on the Codman Square Neighborhood Development Board of Directors.
Laquisa lives in Dorchester, Massachusetts and enjoys hiking with her dogs, spending time with family, and attending comedy shows and concerts in her free time.
