Christopher Kuhar

Dr. Christopher Kuhar is the Executive Director of Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. He served as Curator of Animals at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo prior to being promoted to Executive Director in January of 2013. In his current role, Chris is leading the Zoo into a new phase with an emphasis on conservation, education, and animal welfare. Chris holds a B.S. in Biology from the University of Akron, a M.S. in Zoology from Oklahoma State University, and a PhD in Experimental Psychology from Georgia Institute of Technology. He spent several years serving on the Board of Directors of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the premier professional accrediting body for zoo in North America, including serving as the Chair of the Board during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. A native of northeast Ohio, Chris grew up in Lorain and currently lives in Strongsville with his wife, Gayle, and his two children.
