What is the Forested Community Schoolyards Pass-Through Program and how can you create a competitive application?
On September 9th at 3 pm ET/12pm CT, Trust for Public Land is hosting a virtual webinar about the Forested Community Schoolyards Pass-Through Program. This program, funded through the U.S. Forest Service’s Urban and Community Forestry Program and administered by Trust for Public Land, will enhance, and expand tree canopy and outdoor learning in schoolyards; encourage maintenance and monitoring of trees; and/or provide training and employment opportunities for planning, planting, and sustainably maintaining trees and greenspaces.
During this webinar, TPL will discuss the request for proposals and conduct a live Q&A.

Brigitte Scott
Community Schoolyards® Grants Manager
Brigitte is the Community Schoolyards®️ Grants Manager at Trust for Public Land. She is an educator, program evaluator, and grant administrator with extensive experience supporting informal learning opportunities and communities of practice. Prior to joining TPL, she served as a faculty member at Virginia Tech in Virginia Cooperative Extension where she led a workforce development grant funded by DoD and USDA-NIFA. She holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction and is delighted to be at TPL supporting Community Schoolyards®️ efforts.
Danielle Denk
Community Schoolyards® Initiative Director at The Trust for Public Land
Danielle is the Community Schoolyards® Initiative Director at Trust for Public Land where she works across the organization and with partners to advance the Community Schoolyard movement. In her eleven years at TPL, she directed and managed The Parks for People Program in Camden and Philadelphia, working directly with schools and communities to transform asphalt schoolyards into vibrant, healthy, climate-smart hubs. With over 25 years’ experience in public space design and community organizing, her career has been formed by the needs of the people – so that everyone has access to a high-quality public space. Danielle has a professional degree in architecture and urban design from Kent State University and a master’s degree in landscape architecture from The University of Pennsylvania. When not working, Danielle can be found hiking with her family and dogs on the trails in the Wissahickon Valley in Philadelphia.
Dana Coelho
National Program Manager, USDA Forest Service Urban & Community Forestry Program
Dana currently serves a National Program manager with the USDA Forest Service Urban & Community Forestry Program, focused on successful and equitable delivery of Inflation Reduction Act funds. She is an interdisciplinary professional with experience in urban forestry and arboriculture, collaborative conservation, and urban and environmental planning. Her government and non-profit experience at multiple scales gives her a unique perspective on our ability to create and sustain thriving places for people + nature by cultivating intentional and reciprocal relationships. She holds masters degrees from the University of Maryland in Conservation Biology and Environmental Policy and a Bachelors of Urban & Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia.
