Statement by The Trust for Public Land on President Biden’s Executive Order on Climate

“We are greatly encouraged by President Biden’s strong and immediate action to combat climate change. By rejoining the Paris Climate accords this administration is demonstrating to the world that the United States is fighting for future generations. We look forward to further executive action on public land conservation and access,” said Bill Lee, Senior VP of Policy, Advocacy and Government Relations at The Trust for Public Land.

“We know the power of parks and public lands in protecting people and improving climate resilience by reducing flooding, absorbing air pollution, and filtering stormwater. Green, shady parks protect people from rising temperatures, and can reduce the deadly urban heat island effect by as much as seven degrees. By working together, we can help protect vulnerable communities.”
