Statement by The Trust for Public Land on the Re-instituting of Urban Park Funding under the Land and Water Conservation Fund
“Equitable access to the outdoors is central to people leading healthier, more resilient lives, and The Trust for Public Land is very pleased the Biden Administration has restored funding for parks and open space in our cities” said Bill Lee, Senior Vice President of Government Relations. “The Great American Outdoors Act enjoyed overwhelming bipartisan support in part because it expands outdoor access to those who most need it. We’re grateful to Rep. Nanette Barragán and other Members of Congress who pushed to have that critical funding restored. We look forward to continuing work with Congressional partners and the Biden Administration to address environmental justice and ensure outdoor equity for all.”
Here is the Trust for Public Land’s statement from last month when the previous administration eliminated this program enacted by Congress.
