Hurricane Creek
Famed biologist, E. O. Wilson, claims Tuscaloosa County’s Hurricane Creek to be one of the most diverse ecosystems in the world. This land, located within minutes of the University of Alabama, has been a much-loved destination amongst students and locals for decades. In 2008, we protected the popular “M” Bend of Hurricane Creek as well as 250 acres of rock formations, wilderness, and creekside terrain.
Now part of the County’s park system, Hurricane Creek is enjoyed by the public for swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and bouldering, and provides an outdoor classroom for studying freshwater ecology.
