Jamestown Beach Event Park

Jamestown, Virginia is a pivotal place in American history as the site of the first permanent English settlement in North America. In 2006, James City County wanted to protect land near the historic waterfront and turned to Trust for Public Land for help.

As the 400th anniversary of the Jamestown settlement approached, we helped protect 202 acres of green space along the James River and Powhattan Creek. Today, the park encompasses recreational areas and two historic parks that protect fort and village ruins, and offer a living-history interpretation of the period. The park is a beloved destination for both residents and visitors, featuring amenities like a fishing dock, a playground, picnic spots, and a beach for kayaking and paddleboarding.

With its blend of serene views, historical landscapes, and diverse recreational opportunities, the park stands as a testament to our commitment to preserving spaces that provide both relaxation and a deep connection to our nation’s heritage.
