Loving Our Lands
Access to nature is fundamental to human health and happiness. We envision a future where communities across the country are connected to their public lands.
Since 1972, we’ve completed thousands of land protection projects, including national and state parks, community forests, and we’ve restored tribal and indigenous ancestral lands. Read about the impact we’ve made with help from supporters like you.
By 2050, we could lose 23 million acres of forest to development, logging, and fires—enough to cover the entire state of Indiana. And there’s much at stake if we lose our outdoor spaces—protected lands help promote clean air and water, bolster job creation and outdoor economies, safeguard our future from climate change, and so much more. We need your help to protect these priceless open spaces for generations to come. Support Our Work
Through our Native Lands program, we have worked with more than 70 tribes and Indigenous groups to protect more than 200,000 acres from California to Washington to Hawai’i, restoring ancient sites and landscapes of cultural importance in partnership with tribal communities. Learn More.
Since 1972, we’ve helped protect 4 million acres of land and generate $94.4 billion in public funding. And we’re not slowing down. We worked with partners and congressional champions to ensure the passage of one of the most powerful conservation statutes of all time in 2020—The Great American Outdoors Act that provides $990 million annually to permanently support the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). And we’re working to ensure this funding is used to bring parks and public lands where they’re needed most.
